Causes of Depression

The causes of depression may vary from person to person, but in general, it is possible to collect them under a few headings. Depression, which is seen in almost every age group due to different reasons, is a psychological disorder that manifests itself with different symptoms. In general, it is known that stress, anxiety, current problems and many other factors can cause depression.

Depression Diagnostic Methods

Diagnosis of depression usually begins with a physical examination. During the physical examination, the doctor may ask questions about the individual's health. In some cases, depression may be linked to an underlying physical health condition.

Laboratory tests may then be required. The doctor may do a blood test called a complete blood count or test the thyroid gland to make sure it's working properly.

The next step is a psychiatric evaluation. The mental health professional asks questions to learn about their symptoms, thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns. The individual may be asked to complete a questionnaire to help answer these questions.
